Autonomous educational organization "Nazarbayev Intellectual schools" announces the contest «Discover Kazakhstan» for writing best essays in English on the theme «Kazakhstan on the eve of EXPO-2017 (dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan)» among the students of 9th – 12th grades of state schools of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Intellectual schools.

Aims and objectives of the Contest

The purpose of the Contest:

To open Kazakhstan to the world community, to identify the level of consciousness and citizenship of students, promote the formation of respect to the country and its prospects.

The winners will be awarded with diplomas and collection of best essays.

The winners are determined in the following order:

Grand Prix - one nomination

First place - one nomination

The second place - two nominations

The third place - three nominations

The best works will be included in the «Discover Kazakhstan» collection.

Conditions and procedure of the Contest

The students of 9th -12thgrades of state schools and  Nazarbayev Intellectual schools can participate in the Contest.

As a result the jury determines winners.

During review work the jury takes into account independent thinking skills, vision, consistency, the persuasiveness of the argument, literacy, language, accuracy of words, expression, accessibility, style, normative usage, correct phrasal constructions, logical-compositional structure, conclusiveness, imagery, emotion, informal approach to the topic.

The jury does not edite and sends back written works.

Founder of the Contest has the right to publish any entries in whole or in part without notice to authors and without paying them any compensation for the use of works for research purposes, to send the diploma / certificate of participation, collection of the best works to the address indicated in the application for participation. Participation in the Contest constitutes acceptance of the conditions of the Contest.

Dates of Contest

Start receiving Essays - September 1, 2016.

Completion of reception of Essays - November 1, 2016.

Meeting of the jury - 10-11 November 2016

The winner awards ceremony will be held at Nazarbayev Intellectual schools of the regions in December 12th, 2016. In case the winner does not appear on the awards ceremony the founder has the right to send a diploma / certificate of participation,  collection of best essays to the address indicated in the application.

Results will be announced on the website www.nis.edu.kz no later than 20th November, 2016.

Essays are not taken into consideration, if they were sent after the 1st of November.
